This project was in a high-rise building. A new tenant was moving in. A contracting company was called in to fulfill the buildout. During the construction process, a metal ladder was removed. Whoever was responsible for cutting out the metal portions of the ladder didn’t use a protective screen and lots of welding splatter hit the glass.
Due to the depth of the damage we resurfaced the whole piece of glass. We improved the glass enough that the contracting company didn’t have to have the glass replaced. It was a successful restoration.
Welding damage is the most difficult surface damage to restore. It creates pits with embedded metal in the glass.
